Installing Wireshark on EksilPup

Wireshark is not included by default within EksilPup to keep the ISO image size down.

Wireshark can easily be installed by following the guide below.

1. Click the Menu button
2. Go to Setup and select Puppy Package Manager
3. In the search bar type in wireshark and hit enter
4. Click wireshark-qt from the results
5. Click the Do it! button to the right of the search bar
6. The install report will appear when the install completes, click OK
7. Close the Puppy Package Manager
8. Please follow the guidance below on how to open and run wireshark

Note that for security Wireshark is best run as a non-root user. EksilPup by default runs as root.

To run Wireshark as a non-root user open a terminal and run the command below:

run-as-spot wireshark
